Treasures in the Attic…

Like most of us, you probably don’t think about your attic space on a daily basis. Out of sight, out of mind. Or, maybe you do think about your attic; once a month, when the utility bill comes.

In any case, your attic space is a prime money and energy saving opportunity. It is recommended by the 2009 IECC, (International Energy Conservation Code), that you maintain an R38 in your attic.

Adding
fiberglass insulation
to your attic floor is simple. If your current insulation is undamaged, it may be as easy as blowing loose fiberglass on top of what is already there to achieve the higher r-value. (R-value is the measure of an insulating material’s thermal resistance. The higher the r-value, the greater the insulating power.)

Increasing your attic insulation to proper levels helps keep conditioned air inside your home – where it’s needed – instead of escaping through an under insulated attic. Less conditioned air loose = more savings.
